Bengaluru : Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Tuesday held a meeting with Technical Advisory Committee under the chairmanship of Dr.Devi Prasad Shetty discussed about preperations to contain covid 3rd wave.
At the time the committee submitted an interim report to the government.
Home Minister Basavaraja Bommai, Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar, Expert Panel Chairperson Dr Devishetty and members were present.
It is said that, Children are more prone to infection in covid 3rd wave. In this context, advisory committee has made the following recommendations:
It is advised to establish Children HDU unit, Children ICU, Children hospital wings in Medical college hospitals and district and taluk hospitals.
The Committee has also advised to seek help of experts and make use of human resources , financial resource to contain the 3rd wave. In association with various medical associations, resolution of scarcity of doctors and nurses, taking assistance of all voluntary organisations in the State, avail required resources with the cooperation of corporate companies and most importantly, involvement of general public in containing the pandemic was suggested.
The Committee has suggested to emphasise on curtailing malnutrition.
The Committee opined that, psychiatric service should be provided in every hospital to boost the morale of covid infected children.
Suggestions were given to resolve the shortage of oxygen supply.
It is necessary to give priority to solve post covid health issues and other health problems other than covid.
The Committee explained about the facilities in covid care centres regarding testing on children.
It was suggested to intensify vaccine drive as the vaccination is ideal solution for covid control.
Reopening of Schools and Colleges :
It is suggested to prioritize inoculation to students and teaching fraternity.
The Committee has suggested to review phase wise reopening of schools and colleges.
It is being considered to reopen colleges after making arrangements to vaccinate students above 18 years.
