Mangalore : Sri Narayanaguru Yuvavedike and District Tulu Sahitya Academy jointly organized ‘Mariyalada Minadana’ folk dance competition at Town Hall on Sunday.
Umanath Kotian, President, Tulu Sahitya Academy Inaugurated the event by lighting the Lamp.
Speaking after inaugurating ‘Mariyalada Minadana’ Kotian Said, In historic days villagers were sitting at home without any work. Some of sleeping without food because of the nonstop rain, they have no any other profession. Much different between current and past life. Comparing it to the olden days present living is very tough.
Parents must specify the actions of their children, culture and previous life. Parents should teach their children values and life follows. They do not expect children for monetary gain and higher positions. Children must specify the type of rural life, he side.
The programme is an attempt to create awareness about the importance of culture and values in the present generation, he said.
Twenty teams from various colleges participated in the Inter collegiate Folk Dance Competition. Former MLA Vinaykumar Sorake, Novelist Bola Chitha Ranjandas Shetty were present on the occasion.
Devdas Aayarmar Sri Narayanaguru Yuva Vedike President welcomed the dignitaries. A seminar on ‘Tulunadhda Mariyalada Katt- kattalelu’, by folk litterateur Bannaje Babu Amin; and ‘ Tulunadhda Mariyalada Onas tenas’, by Lecturer of Kannnada, Mangala gangotri, and B Shivaram Shetty was organized.
