Mangalore: The Mangalore Police Commissioner welcomed a gathering of policemen and families on Thursday, June 16 at his office and distributed scholarships to the students from police lines to motivate them to pursue higher education. NRI entrepreneur Ronald Coalaco addressed the gathering.
37 student achievers were selected for scholarships, 10 of them PUC and the rest, SSLC levels. Each gets Rs.50,000 if the marks are ever 90% and Rs.20,000 below 90% marks. The Commissioner, Seemanth Kuamr Singh asked the awardees to be good citizens in the society.
Ronald Colacao, a NRI philanthropist, spoke on the occasion. He pointed out that local policemen were paid less than abroad. He added that he funded an entire police station in Fraser Town, Bangalore with all modern equipments. Alok Moahn,IGP also spoke.
Calco distributed materials and scholarship money to 37 students. SP Labhu Ram was present.
