Mangalore: Children’s Day-The Birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India, was celebrated at Pandeshwar in Mangalore on November 14, Wednesday under the auspices of the Bharath Seva Dal and Corporation Bank. Floral tributes were paid to the statue of Nehru on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajai Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank recalled the yeoman contributions of Pandit Nehru to India and added Nehru would always be remembered for his fondness towards children and for the great vision he had for India.
He said Nehru always wished to provide a safe and loving environment for children in order to help them grow as responsible citizens.
Dr Kurian Abraham, DGM Corporation Bank, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President, Basheer Baikampady, Sudhir of Bharath Seva Dal and Seva Dal children from various schools were present.
