Mangalore: Chinnara Tangudhama, a transit home for the underprivileged, started at the Government school at Bejai Kapikad, under the joint initiative of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Prajna Counseling Centre was inaugurated by Zilla Panchayat President KT Shailaja Bhat. The home is meant to rehabilitate children of vagabonds, beggars and rag pickers and will be a temporary stay for the kids where they will be taught various aspects like discipline and importance of hygiene. Later the children will be rehabilitated in a government residential school.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Assistant Coordinator Geetha said that 34 children have already been admitted in various residential schools and 20 will be rehabilitated in the Government residential school which is being constructed in Belthangady.
Hilda Rayappan, Director of Prajna Counselling Centre and others were present on the occasion.
