Mangalore: Chit fund collections ending in cheating are nothing new to local blockheads, who want to double their income in quicktime.
A Major fraud case came up on Wednesday, March 28 as the latest in such series of events, when a man, Narendra Kamath, collected Rs 20,000 to Rs30,000 from Vechicles-drivers, door to door, and at auto rickshow stands, for a chitfund. He was doing the work for 6 years do no one suspected of anything bad and ugly. Only he duped the guys finally.
Some cheques given by Kamath in lakhs of rupees started bouncing recently, and he made himself scarce, with his house under lock and key. That is when cheated people wake up and look around to cry in agony.
Narendra had a rented house in Dongerkery near the Gangapathy temple, where auto drivers used to gather. Now they are hanging their heads in shame, after he is gone. Bunder police have registered his case.
