Udupi : Choornotsava was held at the Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt on January 15, Tuesday with religious fervor. On Choornotsava, following Makara Sankranti, the temple Brahmaratha was pulled through the streets of the town. Thousands of devotees took part.
The Utsav murthis of Lord Krishna and Mukhyaprana were placed in the chariots before they were pulled. Later there was Avabhritotsava of the idols at the Madhwa Sarvovar.
The seers of Ashta Mutts including Sri Vishwa Vallabhatheertha Swamiji of Paryaya Sode Vadiraj Mutt, Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt, Sri Vidyasagara Theertha Swamiji of Krishnapur Mutt and Sri Vidyadhisha Theertha Swamiji of Phalimar Mutt took part in the festivities.
