Mangalore : Christian community observes Good Friday with solemnity, which marks the crucification of Jesus Christ in churches across the city on April 3, Friday.

Good Friday is a Christian religious holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. It is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday, Black Friday.

Thousands of devotees participated in the Cross procession took places at churches which depicted the day of crucification of Jesus Christ.

The community will take part in church ceremonies which will include reading of the Passion of Christ, reciting prayers, unveiling and veneration of the Cross and communion service.

The mourning period of Christians will end on April 4, Saturday night and Easter will be celebrated on April 5 marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
