Mangalore : In the communal sensitive city the marriage between a Christian man and a Hindu woman takes place after the groom agreed to convert to Hindu religion.
Reportedly, groom identified as Wilson Rakesh D’Souza (21) from Christian community and bride Shobini N.S (18) from Jain community hail from Pumpwell said to be neighbors, fell in love with each other tied wedding nuptials at Arya Samaja according to the Hindu rituals in the presence of their friends.
It is learnt that, couple got married according to the Christian custom on May 30 and the court had approved the marriage of this couple. But later the members of Bajaranga Dal got them married after the groom agreed to convert to Hindu religion.
Groom’s mother and bridegroom’s friends took part in the wedding and blessed them.
Bajarang Dal spokesperson Puneeth Kottari said that groom had approached them to extend their support and hence he was baptized as Rakesh and priest at Arya Samaj conducted rituals according to the Hindu customs.
The girl’s family who opposed their love had lodged a complaint stating that their minor daughter is missing at the Mangalore rural police station.
On Saturday the Mangalore JMFC court inquired the willingness of the couple to get married and favoured their marriage.
