Mangalore: The Mangalore’s Christian community observed Maundy Thursday to celebrate the historic Last Supper on April 21.
Christians believe that Jesus washed the feet of disciples to disseminate the message of love and brotherhood in each other.
Bishop of Mangalore diocese Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, in Rosario Church conducted the ritual of washing the feet of 12 people from Rosario parish and distributed bread to all the devotees. The Holy Mass was then conducted with the bishop as the main celebrant.
In Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, Instead of 12 elderly men, 12 youth were chosen to be the disciples of Jesus Christ, to perform the rituals.
