Mangalore: St. Anthony’s Ashram at Jeppy, near Kankanady, in port city is a service institution for the poor, helpless, aged and discarded people among Christians, and has been striving for their welfare for several decades now, close to Jeppu Seminary.
The Ashram celebrated its Christmas festival on Friday, Dec 23 with Mangalore Bishop presiding over a meeting. The Bishop Dr. Aloysius Paul D’souza delivered the season’s Christmas message of peace and happiness and then distributed gifts and (Kuswar) sweets made for the occasion to the inmates.
He also blessed the Christmas crib created at the entrance of the Ashram, which is a usual practice during Christmas week.
Director of the Ashram, Denis M. Prabhu welcomed the dignitaries/ guests, and local administrator Fr. Francis D’souza proposed a vote of thanks on the occasion.
Fr. George Crast and Sushil Noronha were present.
