Mangalore : Dr. Aloysius Paul D’ Souza, Rev Bishop of Mangalore on Dec. 23, Monday , issues a Christmas message to the followers of Christ, from Bishop’s house in Kodialbail stating that Christianity was of the poor people for the poor living in faith of God and his son, Jesus Christ.
He echoed Pop Francis and told the laity that Christ ministered for the poor, the lowly and the humble people of his country and the world.
It is strange that in Israel, the Jews had not rcognised Bethlehem and Nazereth the tow towns connected with Christ’s life before he became Christ and went to Jerusalem city. He said that we would like to celebrate Christmas by extending a helping hand to all those who suffer due to poverty. The Diocese of Mangalore has taken up various activities and projects in this direction to eradicate poverty from our society.
He called upon people who believe in Christ to join hands with people of other religions too to wipe out poverty prevailing in the society.
The meaning of Christmas is in sharing the happiness with the humble and poor people who are our neighbors, he concluded.
Rev. Denis Prabhu, Vicar General, Fr Henry Sequeira, Chancellor, Fr William Menezes and Fr Marcel Monteiro, Public Relation officers Raymond D’Cunha and Elias Fernandes and others were present at the Press meet.
