Mangalore: The CITU in association with CPI(M) organized a street vendors convention at NGO hall.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, B Madhava, District Secretary of CPI (M) said that the Mangalore City Corporation representatives purposely attack these street vendors since large number of street vendors are minorities.
He also said that CITU is one of the organization which looks man as man and do not classify a man according to the caste, grade and religion.
Now days, the schools compulsorily preach Bhagavad-Gita for students but do not teach the knowledge of humanity. The MCC always classify the people and get their work done according to their caste and religion, he said.
He also said that Janardhan Reddy has 35 warrants and still not arrested. The warrant is being sent back with the influence of CM Yeddyurappa.
CITU district secretary Vasant Achary, said that the convention is being organized to protest against the civic tiger operation.
He said that, MCC is not responding to any kind of protest and actions, but we will not stop this fight and continue further.
Today street vendors have sold their wives jewellery and taken several loans to lead their life, but the MCC will not understand their problems and conduct the tiger operation and snatch all the goods from the street vendors. The life of street vendors have become so miserable that they are taking sleeping pills to take away their tension for sometime, he added.
The street vendors are struggling against the MCC from past two and half month and various protest have been staged, and now they do not know what kind of protest have been staged so far, he said.
The MCC and BJP government must think that f the poor get unite and fight against them, no power can stop them.
CPI(M) secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal and others were present on the occasion.
