Mangalore: Major Praveen Anchan presided over a session that amended Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) on Monday, Dec 12 at MCC hall, and asked the government to make changes in rules, affecting the measures proposed in revised plan. There was a unanimous decision.
The earlier, revised CIP was seen as detrimental to the larger interests of poor, working and middle classes, also small-scale builders. The re-revised Plan allows them to live in city in small houses.
Certain changes were recommended to put the plan in a proper perspective, in road-building, acquiring small private lands, and provide housing/commercial sites within 30 days of an application.
Appi (Congress) had occurred the ruling BJP of enforcing a CDP against the larger interests of common citizens here. Opposition leader L. Pinto expressed his views Ex-Mayor Shankar Bhat faced criticism on CDP.
MCC commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar was present.
