Mangalore : The Hindu Yuva Sena Ganeshotsava placed at Nehru Maidan, concludes with a grand procession on the seventh day giving an end to the Mangalore Ganeshotsava celebration on September 4, Thursday.
Besides the heavy rain, procession commenced from the Nehru Maidan and passed through A B Shetty circle, clock tower, Hampankatta, K S Rao Road, Navabharat circle, Dongerkery, New Chitra junction, Balaji and Car Street and culminated at Mahamayi Temple lake after the immersion of huge Ganesha idol.
The idol of Lord Ganesh was placed in the decorated truck, accompanied with various tableaux depicting religious episodes, Traditional artistes and drummers.
All College Students Association legal advisor Dinaker Shetty said that the association made a Pita of Shri Kateel Durga Parameshwari Devi at the cost of Rs 1.1 lakh for the flowers and other articles.
This year the devotees who accompanied the procession were less compared to the previous year due to heavy pouring rain.
The district magistrate restricted the bursting of fire crackers on the road and in the NehruMaidan during the procession.
