Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Corporation received an award for best practices and initiatives for recycling and reusing of sewage wastewater. The award was instituted by CMAK and DMA (Directorate of Municipal Administration-Govt of Karnataka).
A five-member committee of urban development experts had nominated Mangaluru for the award. The MCC through its STP has been supplying treated water to MSEZ for their usage.
The award was distributed at Bengaluru. The award carried a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a trophy and a certificate. The award was received by MCC commissioner Mohammad Nazir, engineer Raghupal and environmental engineer Madhu Manohar in the presence of Minister for Municipal Administrations Sri Prakash Kandre.
