Mangalore : State Urban Development Minister Vinaykumar Sorake has said a sum of Rs 100 crore would be released to ten city corporations of the state as part of third installment. Speaking at a meeting of officials after paying a surprise visit to MCC office on September 3, Tuesday, the minister said of the Rs 100 crore sanctioned for the second phase, a sum of Rs 15 crore has already been released.
The minister directed MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar to submit proposal regarding formation of Greater Mangalore by bringing more areas under MCC limits. He also said the Mulki, Moodbidri, Ullal, Konaje and other local administrative bodies have already passed resolution.
He said a Rs 10,000 crore project proposal for various projects including HUDCO have been sent to the Government. He said once the process of election of mayor is complete, all elected members will have to undergo training in Mysore.
On the vacancies in city corporations, he said the government was thinking to make direct appointments rather than appointments on contract basis.
