Mangaluru: In the month of April 2018, Ramakrishna Mission carried out 19 daily awareness campaigns for its Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan from April 4 to April 30, 2018 in various parts of Mangaluru city. About 500 volunteers in 19 teams visited nearly 2000 houses and shops creating awareness among the residents and vendors.
V T Road: Daily awareness campaign in Vithoba Temple Road. Volunteers visited more than 100 houses lead by Kamalaksha Pai and created awareness among the public by distributing handbills.
Bendoorwell Circle: Nearly 40 students of Sahyadri Engineering College visited more than 100 shops, vendors and urged them to keep dustbins and appeal to their customers to use dustbins to dispose trash. Sreelatha Ullal coordinated the drive.
Ashoknagar: Members of Team Prerana and Sowjanya Mahila Mandalai organized drive on Ashok Nagar road. They visited local households and shops and distributed awareness handbills. They also cleaned the area by removing the plasic waste. Sadananda Upadhyaya coordinated the drive.
Bandar: Students of GFGC Car Street met nearly 150 shopkeepers and owners and distributed awareness handbills urged them to keep the area clean. Prof. Sheshappa Amin guided the students.
Padil: Volunteers of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan prevented garbage being piled up in the already cleaned Padil junction area and urged the local residents to hand over the disposed garbage to Waste collection vehicle and kep their area clean. Kodange Balakrishna Naik coordinated the drive. So too, Highlands, Bikarnakatte, Marnamikatte, Chilimbi, Yekkur, Attavara, areas were visited by respective teams and awareness was created through April 2018.
Deralakatte, : Students of Nitte College of Physiotherapy arranged special programme on awareness in Deralakatte. Chandrakanth Kulkarni of Pune participated in a special programme arranged to create awareness.
This followed by students visiting different hostels in the premises and urging the students to keep their campus surroundings clean. Pandeshwara: Employees of Sriram Transport Finance Company took up the drive under guidance of Sharatcandra, DGM in Old Kent Road. They urged the people to keep their surroundings clean.
Nagori: Members of Vivekananda Youth Forum organized 108 th drive in Nagori area on both sides of Mangalore-Bangalore Highway. Members visited shops and vendors in 2 teams and urged them to use dustbins and keep their area clean. Nallur Sachin Shetty coordinated the team.
Kodikal, Mulihithlu, Vamanjoor, Mannagudda, Mangaladevi, areas were visited and households and shops urged to keep the area clean. Smt. Vijayalakshmi guided the volunteers. Brahmacharis Lokesh, Chidananda, Nishchay, Vinod, Rajashekhar of Ramakrishna Math led the daily Abhiyan on behalf of Ramakrishna Mission. Sri Umanath Kotekar and Abhishek V S coordinated the daily awareness campaign.
