Mangaluru : To maintain peace and harmony in Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations City police commissioner Vipul Kumar organised a all religion Peace meeting in his office on Wednesday June 13.
Addressing a audience he urged the people to cooperate maintain peace. Some anti-social elements are trying to spoil the name of Mangaluru by spreading false rumours, he said.
Eid will be celebrated on June 15 or 16. Mangaluru people are peace lovers, I know people from different communities celebrate festivals together. The police department has made all the necessary arrangements to ensure the festival is celebrated in a peaceful manner, he added.
Spreading rumours is also an offence, if you receive any such information, kindly share it with the police. Anti-social elements have been using social media for spreading hate massages. But people should not pay attention such rumours, he urged.
There was a discussion held between the police commissioner and the public on this occasion.
Special prayers will be offered at Idgah mosque in Light House Hill road at 7 am, and the road will be blocked from 6.30 am to 10 am. The alternative route for vehicles passing through Hampankatta-Light House Hill-Dr Ambedkar circle will have to move through KS Rao Road-Falnir route, commissioner informed
Vehicular movement between City Centre-Light House Hill and parking towards Light House Hill will be blocked till the mass prayer ends.
Vehicles have been temporarily asked to park only on the left side on the stretch from Light House Hill central library to Vijaya Bank.
