Mangaluru: The city police have decided to take strict action against fish transport vehicles discharging waste water on roads; the police will act on lines of their counterparts in Kasargod.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) M Sanjeev Patil on Friday assured that action would be taken; the issue was taken up during the weekly phone-in programme.
A caller, resident of Gujjarakere said that several citizens were fighting against the issue. The caller added that the water discharged from the vehicles made the roads slippery and it had become a problem for people residing around Pandeshwar, Monkey Stand, Jeppu, Marnamikatta and Thokkottu.
It is said that the fish transport vehicles discharged water only in the city and once they crossed the Talapady check post, the discharge was stopped as there is strict enforcement by the police.
