Mangalore: With the October 6 bundh called by pro-Kannada outfits against release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu practically having no impact in DK and Udupi districts, some organizations in Mangalore chose to stage protests and express their solidarity with the rest of Karnataka as far as the Cauvery issue was concerned.
The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Autorickshaw Drivers Unit and Dakshina Kannada Kodava Students Association organised protests in Mangalore. Rallies were also organised in the city.
S P Changappa, president of Mangalore Bar Association who was part of the agitation said the decision of the Supreme Court on releasing Cauvery water was detrimental to the interests of the Karnataka.
Leaders and members of the various organizations took part in the protest.
