Mangalore: Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, the CEO of Zilla Panchayat, said that a senior citizens service centre will be established in the city very soon.
He was speaking at the World Senior Citizens Day, jointly organized by the district administration, Women and Child Welfare Department, Zilla Panchayat, and Department of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens held at Town Hall on October 1, Saturday.
He also said that revenue department has been instructed to identify 30 cents land for the purpose and that construction work will begin very soon..

Criticizing the elected representatives and officials for their absence during the occasion, MLA U. T. Khader said that even the youth should be involved in Senior Citizens’ Day activities.
Janardhan Gowda of the ZP standing committee on social justice presided over the event. Shakunthala, the deputy director of the Women and Child Welfare Department was also present.
