Mangalore : Bangalore regional resource centre of National School of Drama in association with Union Ministry for Culture has organized a five-day children’s drama festival ‘Male Billu’ at Don Bosco Hall from February 6.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Feb 4, Monday, Suresh Aanagalli, regional director, National School of Drama said that during the festival, said that during the festival, Six leading children’s dramas from across the state will be staged.
He also said that award winning director Sadananda Suvarna will inaugurate the festival and Stage experts Mohan Sona and Udyavar Nagesh Kumar will be the chief guests.
On the first day, the students of JSS High School, Mysore will stage the eminent novelist Chandrashekar Kambhar’s drama ‘Pushparani’, directed by Chandrashekar Achar.
On February 7, Sanchari Theatre, Bangalore will present drama ‘Narigaligeke Kodilla?’ depicting Kuvempu’s story directed by N Mangala. On Feb 8, Students of Chinnari, Manipal will stage ‘Rekke Kattuvira’ directed by Sripad Bhat based on B Suresh’s creation.
On Feb 9, will witness two dramas titled ‘Anche Mane’ directed by Rajani Garuda based on Ravindranath Tagore’s work presented by Gombhe Mane, Dharwad and another play ‘Puttiyu Sihi Mulangiyu’ directed by Pramod Shiggaon based on Shivaram Karanth’s work will be performed by students of Kinnara Mela, Sagar.
The festival will conclude with the play presented by students of Natana, Mysore with ‘Dam Doom Suntaragali’, a Kannada translation of English drama ‘Tempest’ penned by Vaidehi and directed by actor Mandya Ramesh.
