Mangalore : The Civic poll voting for the 60 wards under Mangalore City Corporation limits commenced on March 7 at 7 am.
A total of 677 candidates including 243 candidates contesting for the Mangalore City Corporation elections, are in the battle in the elections to be held even for the local bodies of Ullal, Bantwal, Moodbidri, Puttur, Belthangady and Sullia.
Security arrangements have been tightened all over the city and voting centres.
During the election, some confusion exploded at Shivbagh ward, ACP Kavitha along with other officials raised objection against the political parties which set up their kiosks closer to the voting centre at St Agnes College. Later the kiosk was shifted 200 metres away from the voting centre.
However the political parties who were not satisfied with the shifting of kiosk, demanded to set up near gate again, since it was too far. Then as per the permission of election officer A K Monappa, the political parties were allowed to set up their kiosk at the distance of 30 km.
Meantime some of the newly listed voters were found missing from the voters list at Padavu ward(west). Later when the new list was found, the voters were again called to cast their votes.
Whereas in Mahakali Padappu, the Electronic Voting Machine stopped working and it was replaced to other after one hour.
