Karwar: Various developmental programmes in Karwar were inaugurated by CM Jagadish Shettar on December 26, Wednesday. Shettar laid the foundation stone to different developmental projects, including the new government engineering college in Karwar, Kadwad – Sunkeri bridge, and a mini Vidhana Saudha in Karwar. He unveiled the statue of Shivaji and Henja Naik at the Municipal Garden here and inaugurated the new KSRTC bus stand. He distributed the Bhagyalakshmi bonds, computers to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes students and gas stoves to the below poverty line families.
In his address, Shettar was critical of the Centre for its biased policy towards the state and for not releasing funds for development of roads. He also claimed that the state spent Rs 1000 crore on its own for this purpose every year.
He also accused the Centre of step-motherly attitude towards the state in releasing funds for drought relief. Despite all problems, the government was waived loans upto Rs 25000 of the farmers, he added.
Anand Asnotikar, Minister for Fisheries, Science and Technology urged the CM tor release more funds for progress works in Ankola and Karwr.C.M. Udasi, Public Works Minister, H.N. Ananth Kumar, national general secretary of the BJP, and Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, district in-charge Minister, were present
