Bangalore: CM Yeddyurappa who had collected over Rs.1500 crores and promises of building colonies for the destitutes of Oct.2009 floods by eminent persons and parties, but could not keep up his promise of providing safe houses to the poor sufferers in North Karnataka for one reason or the other, has now promised to complete the construction of over 50,000 houses by the end if May 2011 for the flood-hit people of North Karnataka.
He was intervening during the Question hour on a query raised by Congress MLA Vasanth Bangera of Belthangady. CM stated that all 59,000 houses meant for those who lost properties and homes in 2009 floods would be ready before monsoon and the possession would be handed over to them without any delay.
By March end, 70% of such houses would be ready, CM indicated.
