Bajagoli (Udupi): CM Bookanakere Yeddyurappa was the Guest of Honour on the final day (Sunday) and delivered valedictory address of the illustrious Agriculture Festival (Krishi Mela) at Bajagoli in Udupi district, when he announced the creation of Indian industrial training Centre and promised to present a Farm Budget as part of his general Budget (as financial minister) on Feb.26., somewhat like a Railway Budget before the Central Annual Budget presented in New Delhi by country’s FM. The 31st Krishi Mela was a resounding success with local farmers and rural people attending it in large numbers all 3 days in Karkala Taluk. Sri Dharmasthala Kshetra Rural Development movement had organised the spectacular show to stress the importance of farming in rural Karnataka and India in general.
Farmers would get loans at a nominal interest rater of 1% only; a shift from earlier 35 interest rates. The CM promised Rs.50 lakhs to build a connecting minor bridge to Kabaddi queen Mamatha Poojary’s home in her far of village in Karkala Taluk.
As per a resolution passed by the present Mela, an every district a Cold plant process would be established. CM also promised to sanction Rs. 25lakhs to improve and upkeep the Sun Temple at Naravi near here.
Dr.Veerendra Heggade and CM Yeddyurappa traveled to Bajagoli in a helicopter together. He added that the Farm festival conducted on similar lines as at Bajagoli would instill self-confidence among our state farmers, to desist from suicidal attempts and to fight for a decent rural life with economic benefits.
