Bangalore: CM Bookanakere Yeddyurappa denied here that he ever received any communication from UPA govt., when it was involved in a whirlpool of scandals (latest on Coal mines in 2006), to write him an advisory letter without a moral right.
He was speaking to news reporters at Hubli on way to Bagalkot to distribute house keys to the 2009 Flood-affected families in a function. He added that airport talk that it would be the first time that the Centre would write such a letter in Indian history, to a state how run the government. Ours is an elected govt, he declared.
He said he would not tolerate black-mailing tactics of a Congress (Central) government, nor would the people forgive Congressmen for such audacity. He would ask PM as to how many states he had sent such advisory letters in the past. When Karnataka stands as No. 1 state of law and order, where is the need to advise it on good governance, he asked hotly.
CM went on to say that he would discuss the matter with (BJP) national leaders in Delhi. He pointed to some Central ministers and MPs in Tihar jail and told reporters that such a govt. involved in scams did not have a moral right to advise a state on proper administration.
CM also specified that Speaker K.G Bopaiah would not resign his post. Whatever may come, the state will be developed at any cost, he stated.
But the Home minister’s letter to state govt., did reach Raj Bhawan on Tuesday evening (May 24). The letter criticised the state govt., on illegal mining, corrupt deals and atrocities on Christian minorities and found fault with its disregard in these burning issues. The Home minister has asked Governor to keep a watchful eye on (BJP) government, say Raj Bhawan sources, while rejecting his proposal to impose President’s rule on Karnataka.
