Puttur : CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the Kannada Nudi Theru Jagruthi Jatha at Sullia on October 12, Wednesday.
The jatha is being jointly organized by the Kannada Development Authority (KDA) and the district administrations of DK and Udupi in a bid to increase awareness on Kannada language and culture.
The jatha will last 4 days and will pass through prominent DK and Udupi towns.
Dharmastahala Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade inaugurated the formal stage function.
Chandrashekar Kambar, the Jananapith award winner, flagged off the folk art rally. Sullia MLA S. Angara, presided over the event.
Govinda M. Karajola, the Kannada and Culture Minister; Krishna J. Palemar, the district-in-charge minister; and Dr. V. S. Acharya, the muzrai minister participated as the chief guests.
The jatha will further move toward Bantwal tomorrow and arrive Mangalore on Friday and will reach Moodubidri on the same day and reach Udupi on Saturday.
The valedictory ceremony will be held at Kundapur Government Pre University College 4:00 p.m and KDA Chairman Mukhyamantri Chandru will preside over the event..
