Sullia: The Sullia Taluk which is proud of having its son, DVS Gowda as CM of Karnataka will honour him in his home region of Sullia taluk in DK district on October.12.
This was disclosed by local MLA, S.Angaara, in a preliminary meeting held here to discuss how best local people could honour him.
Narayana Kekada, General Secretary, Reception Committee, later spoke to the media people on Friday last, detailing the plans for the October 12 programme.
A procession will be taken out, from Lal Bahadur Sastri circle on Oct.12 morning, on way to the place where CM will lay the foundation stone for a Kannada Development Authority. The CM will also inaugurate the new building of KVG Law College. He will proceed to the home of KVG Gowda, the architect of modern Sullia and enquire about his health and activities.
The CM facilitation programme and Kannada Nudi-Theru Jatha will be conducted at the same venue, with DK-DC administration, KDA, KSP and various Kannada Sanghas participating in the activities.
Dharmasthala CEO Dr.Veerendra Hegde will hounour the CM, who in turn will fete Dr.Chandrashekhara Kambara(Jnana Peetha awardee) and Girish Bharadwaj, a specialist engineer who built 102 hanging bridges in DK. Dignitaries like M.M.Chandru will be present from K.D.A.
