Mangalore : Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda has sounded warning bells to officials who are apathetic towards the problems of the physically challenged people.
Gowda who was participating in the annual convention and other related programmes of the DK and Udupi District Association for the Physically Handicapped at Town Hall in Mangalore on May 6, Sunday, has said disciplinary action would follow against officials causing any delay in providing the facilities due to the physically challenged.
Stating that the government was formulating special programmes to solve the problems of the handicapped, he said the government would also consider offering land for the construction of buildings for the benefits of the physically disabled in taluk headquarters.
Touching upon the problems face by the Endosulfan victims, he said he has instructed that a team led by the Deputy Commissioner should visit the affected areas and the rehabilitation centres.
Dr M Shantharam Shetty, President of the DK and Udupi District Association for the Physically Handicapped, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, ZP Chief Shailaja Bhat, Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker were among the chief guests present on the occasion.
