Mangalore : CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda inaugurated 30th annual convocation ceremony of Mangalore University in Mangala Auditorium on Feb 23 Thursday.
After the death of higher education minister Dr. V. S. Acharya, CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda, holds the higher education portfolio and conferred doctorates on Dr. Shrikumar Banerjee for science and technology, Erya Laxminarayana Alva for social service and literature, and Dr. Govinda Rao Marapalli for education.
Delivering the convocation address, chief guest Dr. Shrikumar Banerjee, the chairman of the atomic energy commission and secretary to the government of India, department of atomic energy he challenged the human being to work for the development of the society preserving the environment simultaneously.
Altogether 44 doctorates, including 13 in arts, 26 in science, and 5 in commerce; 35 gold medals; 57 c ash prizes, and 62 ranks, including 44 in PG, 18 in UG, 33 in science, 12 in arts, 9 in commerce, 3 in law, 3 in education, and 2 in PG Diploma were awarded on this occasion.
Two gold medals were conferred on MBA and MCJ PG achievers.
