New Delhi: His party (BJP) may have won all 3 by polls, but CM Yeddyurappa is troubled by bad dreams.
Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj instructed by JDS Supremo Devegowda suitably, is putting political pressure on CM by not agreeing to a budget session early next week, as announced by CM on Friday.
While CM is trying to have his own way, Governor is pointing to the Supreme Court order on 16 MLAs, disqualified by an act of a Speaker Bopaiah earlier but getting quashed by a SC bench now.
The Governor has termed as “too premature”, a floor test afresh, in view of SC order restoring 16 MLAs. He pointed out that the SC passed a stricture against the CM and the Speaker (against disqualification). The Governor met the PM in New Delhi on Saturday, but said it was a courtesy call. He told pressmen that after going through the SC order, he would put it to the state govt, to feel the heat.
The Supreme Court had condemned the act of disqualifying 16 MLAs in Karnataka “in hot haste” by the Speaker to favour CM.
After the SC order brought relief to 16 MLAs, one of them from Karwar, a BJP rebel MLA and former minister Anand Asnotikar revealed that the 11 (BJP) legislators have never defected from the ruling party but were demanding a change in the leadership (of CM). Asnotikar added that they were united and would hold a meeting to decide on future steps.
