Bangalore: CM Yeddyurappa is an expert in juggling with his words, and often the foot goes into the month. The other day he said that under any circumstances, he would not acquire farming
Lands forcibly, but soon he will make his way to Gadag district to conduct land acquisition talks, for granting land to industrial Korean company Posco there.
Talking to newsmen about severe protests in Delhi from farmers, monks, opposition leaders and others against offering agricultural lands to industrial giants or foreign companies like Posco, the cm affirmed his commitment to improve the lot of farmers in the state. But for a progressive nation, both farming and industries are needed, which the ryots in state should try to understand, he said.
There are about 70% of farmers in Gadag who are ready to part with their lands. If the farmers are not ready to offer their lands, we would ask Posco to move on, he added, and they will get land surely elsewhere. There is a concerted gang working against BJP govt. from “say one” of its coming to power in Karnataka. Even now such negative efforts are on, he disclosed. But he would was Gadag farmers, ignoring whatever opposition people might say. But cabinet expansion can wait, he added.
