Bangalore: CM DV Sadananda Gowda is asserting his position these days with ex-CM backing out, and categorically told Government servants to work devotedly for 6 days in a week. An officers’ Committee in its report had suggested a 5-day week, which was rejected by CM who added that there was no need to change the statues quo.
In view of excessive heat during daytime in HK districts, offices were made to run between 8-30 AM to 1-30PM for 5hours, but public complaints have led to re-thinking, CM told newsmen here.
While Employees Union leaders sought higher pay, on par with the Union Government scales, CM pointed to drought scenes and losses of revenue in the new fiscal year.
The employees have earned 22.5% rise in their salaries already, he pointed out.
Several demands were made by Government workers at various levels but CM resisted them due to hard times facing the Government.
While discussions were going on at every step with Union leaders only for pay rise, Chief Secretary Ranganath and some senior officers were present to assess both sides and take down notes.
