Mangalore: Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda said that the state government was keen on initiating steps towards setting up of research centers in colleges.
Speaking after inaugurating Srishti -2012 , a state level state level project exhibition and competition for engineering students organized by Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangalore, on May 12, Saturday, he said the government was focusing on developing existing colleges instead of going in for new colleges.
He also said the government was not interesting in opening more engineering colleges this year.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Sudhir Ghate, Chairman of Magnum Intergraphics and a host of eminent men were present at the inaugural function.
Srishti will be held for three days and the exhibition of projects presented by the students will be open from 10 am onwards of May 13. Students from various parts of the state representing various engineering colleges are taking part in the three day event.
