Bengaluru : Annoyed that the district has fallen from 10th position to 27th position in terms of education in the Human Development Index, the CM questioned the DDPI as to why they should not be held responsible for this. What is the effort of your BEOs, teachers in improving the results?
The CM contacted Education Department Secretary Ritesh Kumar Singh over the phone in the middle of the meeting, questioned about the poor performance of the district and directed that both DDPI and BEO should be suspended immediately. He suggested that a notice should be given to the CEO and directed to make serious plans for the educational progress of the district. The DDPI was asked to walk out of the meeting by minister-in-charge Zameer Ahmed.
The CM stressed on the importance of visiting Social Welfare Department hostels and conducting regular inspection of the quality of educational environment and food. He also asked why the educational progress of the hostel students of the district is less compared to the state average. He checked on whether separate coaching classes have been arranged for the improvement. He asked why the problem remains despite regular inspection from the officers.
District In-charge Minister Zameer brought to the attention of the Chief Minister the issue of notice issued by Lokayukta to Social Welfare Department Deputy Director Manjunath for not providing necessary civic amenities in ST hostels and KRIES hostels. The officials replied that this problem is due to issuing tenders at the state level and the supply to the districts is delayed. Responding to this, the CM suggested calling of tenders at the district level and conducting a review to allow the supply.
