Panaji: The neighbouring tiny state of Goa, a Konkani state, has become a model to Karnataka where Konkanigas about, in reducing the petrol price by Rs.11 a litere this week.

Having postponed the event, on account of Tourism minister, Matthany Saldanha’s Sudden death last week, the BJP CM Monohar Prabhu Parriker presented the Goan budget for 2012-13 on Monday(March 26) here, as decided in a hurried cabinet(emergency) meeting, after Matthany’s departure.
The CM who is also FM, reduced the VAT on petrol to 0.1%, due to which Petrol rates slipped from Rs.65 to Rs54 per litre this week, he announced.
The Goan Government will lose Rs.100 crores thereby, he told the Assembly. Besides, CM Parriker brought joy to housewives in his state by retaining the present cooking gas rates for the next 5 years, even ignoring any rise proposed by the Centre in that period, he assured.
