Mangalore: Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has assured necessary steps to formulate a special package for Endosulfan affected people.
Speaking to reporters during his maiden visit to Mangalore, Jagadish Shettar said he has already met a few Endosulfan affected people as well as the office bearer of the Anti-Endosulfan Committee. Stating that it was a serious issue, Shettar said the government was committed to protect the interests of Endosulfan affected people.
He said the government has already provided Rs 25 lakhs to the day care centre being run under the Dharmasthala Rural Development Project.
He said the government would gather information on the facilities provided to Endosulfan affected people in Kerala.
Earlier, the CM met some families which are greatly affected by Endosulfan, at Circuit House, The Anti-Endosulfan Committee also submitted a memorandum to the CM.
District in-charge Minister CT Ravi, Urban Development Minister Suresh Kumar, Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker, Deputy Commissioner Dr NS Channappa Gowda and others were present .
