Mangalore : Officials came under fire from the Chief Minister for the inordinate delay in the construction of the second vented dam at Tumbay.
The CM who visited the Tumbay dam site on May 6, Sunday also warned that the contract of the existing agency will have to be cancelled if the work continued at the present pace. He also took serious cognizance of the fact that only nine of the 19 vents have been completed.
Later, addressing a progress review meet of the district, the CM promised that the condition of all the roads in the district would be better by December 2013.
It was also informed that there were plans to construct several vented dams across Netravathi and Phalguni rivers to solve the water problems of the district.
DC Dr N S Channappa Gowda, elected representatives of the district, ZP Chief Shailaja Bhat, Mayor Gulzar Banu and other officials were present.
