Mangalore: CM DV Sadanandra Gowda landed at Kenjaru airport near Bajpe on Wednesday morning, at 8.15 AM, to fulfill local engagements, before proceeding to attend Virasat Festival at Alva’s College in Moodabidri on Thursday. He found local roads in bad shape and asked for repairs immediately.
Talking to reporters at the airport, he said that BJP top leaders would mediate between Yeddy and Eshwarappa and Eshwarappa in their mutual clash of last week.
Answering a query on Shobha K’s visit to New Delhi, after Eshwarappa returned from Delhi, CM just shrugged off to say it was her turn to go there.
CM revealed that an Assembly session would start on Jan 30 (Martyrs’ Day) to last 10 days.
The Budget session may commence from first week of March. Pending road development works, he told, would be finished in 15 days.
On Sullia incident of stone-pelting at a police station, he said police officers were taking action and the government would not intervene.
The CM will take part today (Wednesday) in Coastal Development Summit meeting of investors, to further tourism and industrial activities. He inspected the preparations in city to conduct a National Youth Festival as on Jan 12 for 4 days.
He hoped that such a mega event would run smoothly. The Central Government not only gave permission to Mangalore, to hold this unique event for the first time, but also granted Rs.2 crores to conduct it, CM said. The state was spending Rs. 10 crore as well.
He asked the Mayor (Praveen Anchan) to have all roads repaired quickly. The city has been given Rs. 100 crore for development works.
He referred to other grant to Malvooor and a foot bridge.
