Kundapur: Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar who was on a maiden visit to Udupi district on October 1, Monday, inaugurated the new police station at Amasebail, a Naxal affected area.
Speaking at a function held in this connect at the Garodi premises, the Chief Minister said a decision would soon be taken if additional personnel should be posted in this station.
The CM also delved on the Cauvery issue and said though he had planned his cancel his visit in view of the Cauvery dispute but could not as he was invited by AG Kodgi.
Shettar said the new police station has been constructed at a cost of Rs 45 lakh. A drinking water project and PM’s Gram Sadak Yojana was inaugurated by Shettar.
Several schemes and projects were symbolically inaugurated on the occasion. District Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary inaugurated the solar village project and the agricultural market. The Community Bhavan was inaugurated by MLC Shankaramurthy. Capt. Ganesh Karnik inaugurated the BC girls hostel while the Tombattu-Bagimane Bridge was inaugurated by MP Raghavendra.
Udupi MP Jayaprakash Hegde also spoke on the occasion.
