Mangalore : Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar inaugurated a tertiary treatment plant, constructed by the Mangalore SEZ Ltd on March 18, Monday. The plant with the 22.5 million litres per day capacity will treat the secondary treated effluent of the sewage treatment plant of Mangalore City Corporation built at an approximated cost of Rs.18 crores.
The companies like MRPL and the units of MSEZL will benefit from the tertiary treatment plant which is in under trial run. The plant is automated with moving Bed Bio Reactor, Claritube Flocculator,GE Membrane Ultra Filtration ,Chlorine Dioxide Treatment and Treated Effluent Storage and Sludge Handling System. M. Veerappa Moily, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Deputy Speaker N. Yogish Bhat, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Capt. Ganesh Karnik, were among others present.
