Bangalore: Bookanakere Yeddyurappa has managed to hang on to his BJP chair of power, when Congress CMs in Maharashtra and Andhra have fallen like nine pins in bowling clubs.
The master batsman in politics that Yeddy is, he does not care when everyone is anxious about what would befall him. His going to Puttaparthi and getting Sai Baba to talk to him, brought all Mathadhipathis to back him up and his travel to New Delhi from Puttaparthi, in the special plane of PM Singh won him second innings batting.
This has happened with Indira Gandhi after Emergency (1975-77) when she got her second innings to play, but ended in disaster to her, with her high-handedness in Amritsar.
It should not happen to him and should not get puffed up to say he is indispensable to BJP. Look at Andhra, the Congress got a speaker to replace Rosiah and another Chavan to replace Ashok in Maharashtra.
If BSY has not learnt appropriate lessons in his survival, after the last “Agni Pariksha” (Test by fire), then he should take all the blame, should he fail again by greedy gobbling of money, property and women too.
He is a man with some weaknesses which he has to overcome even as a Lingayat, a vegetarian, a non-smoker, non-drinker of liquors, true to his religion and faith in godly men around him in the state. We wish him well.
