Kolar: CM DV Sadananda Gowda had a taste of who was superior in politics on Saturday, when he visited Kolar district to study the impact of drought conditions among ryots and poor people, but met with an ugly demonstration of empty waterpots from women and farmers ,who surrounded him demanding drinking water.
Gowda had come along with minister Varthur Prakash and Kolar MP K.H. Muniappa(Railway minister of state) to Chatrakodihalli in the hot afternoon. The people surrounded the CM with love, and asked for drinking water.
They were angry on an earlier batch of observers who came to study drought in Kolar and did not respond will to their call.
CM met them all with a smiling face, heard their grievances patiently, and instructed ZP authorities to mitigate their problems. He told the agitated people that they had to wait for two years to receive Yettinalhole tributary waters.
He has told farmers not to pay interest on their loans.
There were silk farmers and cattle fodder shortage, to attend to.
24 districts and 123 taluks were ruling under rainless conditions. No minister/secretary could go abroad, he ordered on April 19.
