Bangalore: With legal proceedings and Lokayukta net thrown up, to catch CM Yeddyursappa on 5 to 15 counts in Land Denotification, nepotism, mining wealth, disproportionate income all leading to various scandals surrounding him and laughing wildly, poor Yeddyurappa is afraid of black magic hallucinations and fears for his life these days. But Siddu (Congress Leader of opposition) has told Yeddyurappa to go in for a psychiatric test and relieve himself of worries.
CM knows he has to go, at least temporarily, but he can’t jump to Delhi like Devegowda. Kumaraswamy is chasing him wherever he goes, through forest routes and highways. CM needs a substitute to stand for him as a temporary CM, somewhat like S.R.Kanthi to S. Nijalingappa when the latter lost an election in Chitradurga way back.
Kanthi deputised for Nijalingappa (unlike B.D Jatti) for six months, until SN won a by-election and returned to lower house to become CM again.
Similarly, if only a minister could help him for sometime to rule for him, until he is cleared of charges brought against him. Who is there, but Jagdish Shettar, Shobha Karandlaje and Dr.V.S.Acharya? Others cannot be trusted as temporary substitutes in this game of power to empower CM Yeddyurappa who wants breathing time to gather wits in a precarious position under pressure.
Shobha and Acharya go out in the first round, since Yeddy wants only a Lingayat. Eshwarappa is a friend, but not a puppet. Only Shettar who was a speaker and a minister, could stand a chance of being a weak person who can serve out time for Yeddy’s comeback for another 20 month’s rule as CM. He has done 30 months now, without any good governance or growth in the state.
