Mangalore : CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda said that media played a significant role in controlling anti social elements and upholding democratic values.
Speaking at the meet held at Press Club on August 14, Sunday, he said that media has the responsibility of acting as the signal whenever things go wrong.
He further said that he will make arrangements to meet the media persons at least for an hour every week. He has also asked his office to make note of reports appearing in various media which helps to sort out issues relating for the development of the people.
Mr. Gowda also revealed his plans of inviting opposition leaders such as Revanna, Motamma, Siddaramaiah, M. C. Nanaiah, and others to his press meets on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
Speaking about the police department, he said people should respect the police and in turn police officials too should earn people’s respect with their deeds.
He said that he will give top priority to his hometown of DK while releasing funds for various projects. He also said that he will consider giving more power to the Lokayukta.
District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar, Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, DK District Working Journalists’ Union President P. B. Harish Rai, Secretary Shreenivas Indaje, and others were also present.
