Udupi: “To provide better treatment for poor and needy people, the MOU has been signed between state health department and Dr B R Shetty to set up the hospital at Udupi,” said district in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj.
Addressing the press personnel on Wednesday at his residence, he said that the foundation stone will be laid by CM Siddaramaiah on October 30 at Town Hall. BRS Health and research centre will be a hospital with 200 beds and it is specially meant for children and mother. It will be build within a year or earlier.
“The present hospital has only 70 beds and unhygienic, there is a need of reconstructing the hospital as the number of patients is increasing day by day. To provide the better facilities and emergency service at the hospital the new hospital is being constructed,” he said.
He further said that the new hospital should follow the guidelines of the government while treating BPL card holders. All the assured facilities are available at the hospital for the beneficiaries. After the construction of the new hospital the old building will be demolished.
