Bengaluru : Revenue Minister R Ashoka said, “The current lockdown has helped in reducing Covid cases in Bengaluru. The City which used to see a peak of 22,000 cases is now witnessing around 5k cases. The lockdown will continue till June 7. However, we have suggested to the CM that the unlocking process should be done in a graded manner.
It can begin with the reopening of export industries and gradually with the other sectors. If the unlocking happens at one go, then the crowd will be back and the cases may surge again. Right now, our priority is that the daily Covid cases should reduce to less than 1k in Bengaluru. Though the experts have suggested that lockdown should be extended. However, CM BS Yediyurappa will take a final call. Right now, we are focussing on treating the mucormycosis cases on priority. We are also planning to ramp up health infrastructure to tackle the possible third wave.”
The Revenue Minister also launched the aerial spraying of organic disinfectants over Bengaluru skies at Jakkur aerodrome on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr R Ashoka said, “The aerial spraying will begin from Monday and will be done between 8 am to 10 am at KR Market, Kalasipalya, Shivajinagar and Jayanagar markets. This is a pilot project and will be done thrice in a week. This is purely a voluntary scheme and the State Government is not paying anything. During the first wave, the roads were sprayed and now the company has come up with aerial spray. If the results are effective, we will adapt this in Bengaluru”
