Udupi : The Udupi city municipal council (CMC) locked a restaurant near city bus stand for not paying rent since one year. The CMC official sealed the restaurant on Monday March 23.

It is said, Manohar Kamath and B R Mahesh tendered the restaurant space for a restaurant in the financial year of 2008-09. The partnership ‘Kamath’s City Darshini’ was not paid Rs 3,60,871 for the year.

CMC revenue office P Chandra Poojary said, they served several notices to the restaurant partners, but they failed to pay the payments once they pay the pending dues, the CMC will hand over the key.

The CMC has also sealed 6-7 shops in Manipal and near KSRTC bus stand for the same reason. The CMC intends to recover as much of the pending amount as possible by March 31.
